Unlike traditional publications, collection data requires continuous curation to maintain a high level of quality over time while meeting evolving usage requirements. Establish data quality management as a defined task within your project activities or within your institution's task profile. For libraries, archives, and museums, the curation of inventory data is an essential task that must be allocated sufficient resources.
Set aside both time and budget for investments in technical infrastructure and personnel.
Invest in data infrastructures or seek out competent partner institutions or networks. Hire data specialists, or train yourself and your team. Familiarise yourself with digital methods and the practices of research data management.
