Content standards define how specific resources and objects should be described and documented. They are also referred to as cataloguing rules. These may include guidelines on how to record and format information, as well as the vocabulary (data values) to be used. They are not tied to a specific metadata schema.
For cultural research data and cultural heritage collections, we recommend the use of the following content standards:
Resource Description and Access (RDA) and RDA DACH
General International Standard Archival Description (ISAD(G))
Estates: Resource Cataloguing with Authority Data in Archives and Libraries (RNAB)
Cataloging Cultural Objects: A Guide to Describing Cultural Works and Their Images (CCO)
Categories for the Description of Works of Art (CDWA)
International Core Data Standard for Archaeological and Architectural Heritage (CDS)
