5. Incompatible data formats and methods for data provision

The goal of the Culture Knowledge Graph is to improve the findability and interconnection of research data available on the web. This is only possible, however, if data is available online and has stable IRIs for each data feed element. Due to this requirement, certain kinds of data cannot be ingested into the Culture Knowledge Graph:

  • Data contained in proprietary formats such as Excel files
  • Data stored in a graph database without resolvable IRIs
  • Data stored in a relational database without resolvable IRIs

In these cases, ingesting the data only makes sense if it is first made available online. The repositories recommended by NFDI4Culture offer services to store your data, but you may still need to make it available in specific formats. If in doubt, feel free to contact the NFDI4Culture Helpdesk.
